Collector Classic Cars

Can i make a living selling/restoring classic cars?
I have a BA degree in teaching and want to change careers. The schools system is overworked and underpaid and for crap! I also am a pianist and music producer but the music school i have is hard trying to get people to come. I guess the economy!
I have been working on cars since 10. I was thinking of buying old 70s muscle chevy cars and restoring them one by one and then bringing them to the collector auctions like Mecum to sell em.
I dont know anything about trannys and motor rebuilt jobs. But i know regular repair stuff and body work. I dont have a garage. I work on the street.
If i get cars that dont need that much but paint and interior, .....Can i fix em and sell them at auction and make alot of money?
I was thinking of 70 Chevelles and camaros?
Would this be worth doing?
Yes.
There are people who make a living off that.
But you must have lots of money saved up from the beginning.
And you must be ready to take lots of risks.
There is a tv show on Discovery Channel called "From Wrecks to Riches"
On that show, they do exactly that. They buy junk cars, restore them, sell them.
You need at least $100,000 to restore one. It might only cost $40,000 to restore, but you need to have extra money incase.
And when selling one, the risk is that it might sell for $10,000 or more below value. If that happens, you just spent extra money at the auction for auction fees to buy back your car to try to sell it another day.
So it is a risky profession.
