The law does not prevent anyone from owning a car strobe light, but different rules guide its usage on emergency vehicles and for off-road shows.

Why don't my break lights turn on?

Six months ago, I bought my first car. A few weeks ago, I lifted the interior carpet to repaint the floor. After laying the carpet down again, I noticed my break lights stopped lighting up when I pressed the pedal. The tail lights still turn on, so it cant be due to a burnt out bulb. I checked under the carpet to see if I had maybe cut any wires when I was painting, but I didnt seem to. What else could be causing this problem? Could it be a blown fuse... or would the break lights run of the same fuse as the tail lights? If it helps, my car is a '59 Ford Custom 300. My guess is the set up should be the same on most other cars though.
